Benefits of Membership
Membership in ASTHVI is open to states, Tribes and territories and extends to all staff on the home visiting administrative team.
Professional Development
ASTHVI prioritizes providing professional development and leadership opportunities to our members through participation on committees, mentorship small groups, and election to the Board of Directors. ASTHVI committees have focused on topics including annual reporting and data collection, continuous quality improvement, best practices in program implementation, and coordination with the Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA). Committee topics, priorities and objectives are developed by the membership at-large and directed by volunteer co-chairs.
ASTHVI also creates opportunities for members to engage with policymakers through national briefings and policy discussions. ASTHVI members have testified before Congressional committees regarding the impact of home visiting; potential issues to be addressed through the MIECHV reauthorization process; and implementation of updates to the MIECHV statute, among other topics. ASTHVI has hosted briefings on Capitol Hill highlighting research documenting the impact of home visiting, and shared analysis of the contracting and financing mismatches that stand in the way of offering home visiting to more families through FFPSA.
Partnerships
ASTHVI maintains longstanding relationships with the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) and meets regularly with these federal partners to exchange information and insights. ASTHVI staff in Washington, D.C. provide updates on developments affecting home visiting, and compile feedback from administrators across the country. Through ASTHVI, members communicate consensus priorities and concerns with one voice, helping to make federal policy more responsive to communities, states and Tribes.
Events and Meetings
The ASTHVI network offers regular opportunities for members to gather, virtually and in person, with colleague home visiting administrators to benefit from shared insights and experience. Discussions center on topics including but not limited to home visiting innovations, findings from coordinated state research and evaluation projects, strategies and frameworks for program implementation, and effective approaches to oversight of local agencies, remote monitoring and site visits.
