The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) recently received a $7.9 million federal grant to use for the Michigan Home Visiting Initiative through September 2019.

The initiative promotes school readiness, parent-child relationships as well as maternal, infant, and early childhood health, development, and safety.

Funds will be used to improve home visiting services and to build infrastructure to support home visiting services

“MDHHS is focused on improving health outcomes for all Michiganders,” MDHHS Director Nick Lyon said. “Home visits from trained professionals during pregnancy and the first five years of a child’s life can be a key in assisting families in caring for infants and building strong, healthy relationships with their young children.”
